This year, the Russian Life Wall Calendar explores Russia through its beautiful rivers, lakes, oceans and seas. Russian Waters offers a stunning looking glass into the landscape, cities and architecture of this ancient land: sailboats ply rippling rivers, the Neva glimmers at night, churches overlook picturesque lakes, bizarre crystalline ice formations edge a forest...

As always, our Wall Calendar also features over 200 important historical, religious and national holidays of Russia (plus the usual American ones). A great gift idea for others and yourself! [Each photo measures 9x12 inches.]

About the photographer: Born in the Volga river city of Tver, George Shpikalov loved to lug around his grandfather's old camera, even without any film in it—it was his favorite toy. In 1998, he entered Moscow State University's journalism faculty and embarked on a career in photojournalism. George also combines his love of photography with another passion: cars. He enjoys driving around Russia and capturing beautiful images. In 2006, he organized an expedition from the Barents to the Black Sea, spending three months in an off-road vehicle with his favorite camera and lenses, a portable gas stove, tent, and of course his loving wife. A photo album of the trip, Russia: North to South, was published in 2007.

Spotlight Reviews

5 Stars Excellent quality with wonderful pictures and facts
by Andrew Echlin from London, UK on Jan 10, 2010
For anyone who is plagued with longing for the mystery and wonder of Russia, this is a great way to be reminded why that longing is legitimate. The images command a certain quietude or serenity, and they capture the vastness and grandeur of the Russian 'prostranstva'. Russia's incomprehensible space is distilled into 12 magical photographs.

5 Stars Best present ever
by Sheila K on Jan 10, 2010
Each year, we buy more of these at Christmas because our friends and family admire ours. We adopted our children from Russia, and as they have grown and moved out, we now purchase one for each of them as well, to maintain their sense of "home". The photography is gorgeous, and it is always so interesting to read bits about Russian history and culture.

Excellent Calender! I get one every year for myself and for my Russian podruga. She looks forward to it each year, to bring back memories of home.

3 Stars To be perfectly honest, a little disappointing...
by a member from Virginia, USA on Jan 11, 2010
Why, in most years, must Russian Life's calendar focus on Moscow, St. Petersburg, and their surrounding regions? Here are a few suggestions for future calendars: Karelia, Solovki, Baikal, Siberia, Altai, Kamchatka. Or how about a special theme, such as wooden churches?
